The name CANA
Because
of its uniqueness, the institution was given the name National Centre For Family
Life Promotion. But the name, even the abbreviation (NCFFLP), sounded a little
long. So, a shorter name became necessary. After much prayer and deliberation
the biblical name CANA, where in connection with a marriage Jesus did his first
miracle at the intercession of his holy Mother, was adopted as a second name for
NCFFLP, as the name conveyed the vision behind this institution: God's presence
and assistance are necessary for fulfillment in family life and in this process
Mary's intervention and intercession do play an important role. However CANA has
a full form very much explaining one of the objectives of this institution,
namely, Centre for Alcohol and Narcotic Additions.
Governing
Body
CANA
is an Institution belonging to the Archdiocese of Changanacherry, India. Its
Director and other members of the governing body are appointed by the
archbishop. It is a non-profit organization registered according to the Society
Act of the State of Kerala, India. As a tax-exempt society, CANA is eligible to
accept any donation tax-free.
Motto and Logo
Renew the face of the earth (Ps. 104. 30)
is the motto of CANA and its logo was designed and artistically
represented by the famous American artist, Kristine Guildner.
CANA
has already become a beacon for families and for centres of family life
promotion. By imparting leadership training to people from different parts of
India and the rest of the continent and from different denominational Churches,
CANA hopes to make Family Apostolate a widespread movement.
Family-based and
family-centered ministry is the call of the millennium. The need of the time is
to evangelize the family in preparation for the Second Coming
of the Lord.
