John Paul II
Pontifical Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family at CANA is the Asian
Session of the Pontifical Institute in Rome, situated at the Lateral University.
It was inaugurated in 1997 by the then President of the Institute and the Rector
of the Lateran University, Bishop Angelo Scola ( Now Angelo Cardinal Scola, the
Patriarch of Venice, Italy).
The
Archbishop of Changanacherry, India is the Grand Vice Chancellor of the Institute.
Rev. Dr. Joseph Alencherry is the Vice President. Rev. Dr. Antony
Chundelikkat is the Registrar of the Institute and Rev. Dr. Jacob
Koippally, the Dean of studies. The Professors come from
India and abroad.
The
Institute offers the following programs.
I.
Licentiate Programme

Two year Programme in Theology

Additional training in Family Ministry

Thursday. Training in both Theory and Practice

Medium

Minimum requirement: B. Th. or B.D. in
Theology

Diploma will be awarded by the Institute

candidates are sponsored by the same diocese or organization, only Rs. 3500/-
for each candidate)

IV. Diploma Course in Pastoral Counselling

(300 hrs.) intense training in Pastoral
Counselling on weekends and holidays
